Pelvic floor physical therapy is an essential piece in a woman’s healing process that is not well-known or commonly advocated for. There are many parts of postpartum healing that are common but are not normal. Peeing your pants postpartum is common, but is not normal. Painful sex postpartum is common, but is not normal. It is extremely important to find and use appropriate tools in your healing process postpartum. Exercising postpartum is also important, but needs to be done at the appropriate time and carefully. Do not begin exercising without doctor approval. It may be helpful to ease back into things by starting out with yoga or other low-impact, slow moving, and mindful movements.
