Sleep is an area of parenting that can cause high levels of stress and frustration for parents and caregivers. Safe sleep practices are essential in keeping babies safe and preventing SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome). There are a variety of opinions and research for and against sleep training, but it all comes down to the parent’s decision of what is best for their family. Remember that what works for one child and family may not work for you or another family. Always respect what others do and never shame parents for doing things differently than you. Being able to provide parents with the resources to make their own educated decision is important in helping them and their child get the sleep that they need.
